As part of our ongoing updates, we’ve decided to focus on different members of the team who are putting together this film, to let you know a bit more about them – starting with our hugely talented composer: singer/songwriter, Tommy Rando.
Tommy is an Australian music producer, singer-songwriter and composer. Before we say anything more, we think it’s best we let you have a listen to Tommy in full singer/songwriter mode performing his original single “Woman’s Got Soul” in the official video clip below:
With a unique voice and impressive guitar skills, Tommy has worked with Australia’s finest contemporary music acts including Taxiride, Boomcrash Opera and Invertigo.
Tommy has also been accepted globally, touring the UK and USA with his debut album Winter Sky and follow up hit, Signature. Spotted at South by Southwest music festival (Austin, Texas) by music great, Seymour Stein, Tommy went on to tour the UK where he met his future mentor, John Reid (Ex. Elton John/Queen manager).
He has worked alongside Mark Ronson (producer Amy Whinehouse) and in 2012 toured France with UK sensation Paulo Nutini.
Tommy has written and produced songs for US sensation Oryon (Top US Billboard Hit), Vanessa Amorosi, Lee Harding, Anthony Callea and UK Pop Idol Kirsty Crawford.
In 2004 Tommy’s song Wasabi hit number 1 on the Australian charts (performed by Australian Idol finalist, Lee Harding).
Tommy’s recent film and television endeavors have included working with the Coca-Cola Company on their latest US TVCSprite campaign. He is also collaborating with Alloy Tracks-Los Angeles, USA and Real Media Group. Back at home in Australia, Tommy is in demand for his work on numerous TVCs, Television series and Corporate films.
We are delighted to have Tommy working with us on this documentary and know that he brings a wealth of talent and a unique musical take to the telling of this story, that is a welcome contribution to making this project truly original.
Tommy has written and performed a LOT more than “Woman’s Got Soul” (check out some of his compositions and performances here), but we couldn’t resist finishing this Spotlight with a clip of Tommy performing the same song as above – this time unplugged on a Melbourne Tram for “Transit Sessions”. Enjoy.
Till next time …
